We're hosting live Twitter Q+A sessions as part of our ongoing support for the veteran community. Join us next Monday (May 4th) as Ben Amponsah answers your questions about how to look after your mental health whilst the UK remains in lockdown.
Ben Amponsah is a WWTW Mental Health therapist, an Accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and a member of the British Psychology Society. He qualified as a counsellor in 2004, having been working in therapy since 2002.
Ben attained his first degree in Psychology at The University of Bristol in 1991. He then completed his Diploma in Counselling Studies at The University of Manchester in 2004 and has subsequently practiced at the LGBT Foundation in Manchester, where he is now a Senior Counsellor. Ben has also worked, for many years, in the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) Industry and in the field of Solution-Focussed Brief Therapy (SFBT) and most recently Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
He is also a Psychologist and, having part-completed the Independent BPS course for the Qualification in Counselling Psychology (QCoP), commenced a professional doctorate (part time) in Counselling Psychology at Glasgow Caledonian University in Sept 2018.
Ben has successfully completed an internal training course at Freedom from Torture and is engaged in continued professional development on psychological therapy with torture survivors.
Ben worked as a volunteer and then paid counsellor, on a part-time basis, at Freedom from Torture from October 2010 to April 2019.
